DISCOVERING LIFE
   The Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach hosts a "Get Out and Discover" event, featuring a performance by "Ghost of Gloria," along with DJ Irie, at the ELLE Spa Terrace. The performance takes place simultaneously with 19 others around the world as part of Renaissance Hotels' project that brings to life their first-ever global advertising campaign "Live Life to Discover." FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE
   The Miami Marlins' "Jiffy Lube Friday Night Live" features a post-game concert with Latin urban duo "Chino y Nacho." After the first Miami Marlins Friday home game of each month, fans can stay and hear a live post-game concert on the field with top recording artists and entertainers. First pitch versus the Tampa Bay Rays is 7:10 p.m. Marlins Park, 1390 NW Sixth St., Miami. Post-game concerts are included with the price of admission to each Marlins Friday Night Live game. FEEL THE FORCE
   The Miami Science Museum and the International Hurricane Research Center and Miami-Dade County Emergency Management Department host "Feel the Force," a full day of activities and informative speakers on how to prepare for extreme weather such as hurricanes. Interactive activities include the Wall of Wind, where visitors construct a house from balsa wood and then place them in front of the wind simulator to see whose house can withstand hurricane winds. A featured speaker is Bonnie Schneider, CNN weather anchor. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. 2 p.m. speaker Bonnie Schneider. Miami Science Museum, 3280 S Miami Ave., Miami. Admission to the museum is free all day. UNITED WAY AWARDS
   The United Way of Miami-Dade hosts its annual meeting and volunteer awards program, honoring five community leaders and one outstanding young person whose works have had impact in our community.
