National search to replace HistoryMiami CEO

By Rachel Tannenbaum
After eight years, Robert McCammon is stepping down as president/CEO of HistoryMiami, effective Sept. 30.
Mr. McCammon has been with the museum since 2004. He oversaw rebranding of the Historical Museum of Southern Florida as HistoryMiami, public opening of the archaeological site Miami Circle, certification as a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate as well as fundraising for an offsite collections facility and securing the present site of the Miami Art Museum for future expansion.
To find his replacement, Board of Trustees Chairman Michael N. Rosenberg has appointed a committee from HistoryMiami and the community at large chaired by HistoryMiami Vice Chairman Faith Mesnekoff to conduct a national search.
In a statement, Dr. Rosenberg said that Mr. McCammon's replacement will "continue to raise the profile of HistoryMiami throughout our diverse community."
HistoryMiami, under its former name, was founded in 1940 as a historical association comprised of famous Miamians including George Merrick, Charlton Tebeau and Marjory Stoneman Douglas, according to its website. Through exhibitions, city tours, education, research, collections and publications, HistoryMiami celebrates Miami's history as a unique crossroads of the Americas.
