THEATER Thursday 4/12 THE FORUMThe UM Jerry Herman Ring Theatre presents "A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum," based on the book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The musical combines situations from Roman farces with classic vaudeville. A crafty slave, seeking to earn his freedom, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful courtesan for his young master. '60S SHOWDOWN "Moscow" by native Miami playwright Michael McKeever, set in 1960s Miami, tells of members of a prominent family finding their world challenged by the life-changing events of the era. The Kennedy assassination, the Cold War and the sudden influx of Cubans to Miami are just some of the events that forever changed the lives of one family. 7:30 p.m. Additional performances through April 15. Saturday 4/14 "LUCIA"The Olympia Theater's "Red Curtain" series and the Miami Lyric Opera present the tragic opera "Lucia di Lammermoor" by Gaetano Donizetti. Written in 1835 and loosely based on Sir Walter Scott's novel "The Bride of Lammermoor," the story concerns the emotionally fragile Lucy Ashton, who is caught in a feud between her own family and that of the Ravenswoods in the Lammermuir Hills of Scotland in the 17th century. 8 p.m. April 14-15. Sunday 4/15 COMEDIC CASEAward-winning actress and comedienne Lily Tomlin performs. Thursday 4/19 PRINCE TALEMiami Dade College's Wolfson Opera Ensemble presents the musical production of Stephen Schwartz's "Pippin," a pop-rock musical with music and lyrics by Schwartz, libretto by Richard O. Hirson, and originally directed/choreographed by the late Bob Fosse. It tells of a young prince who strives for a higher purpose in life through the glory of the battlefield, sexual temptation, involvement in politics and love. 7 p.m. Additional performances through April 21.
