WINTER WONDERLAND
   Jungle Island opens "Winter Wonder Island" with "HumAnimals," an interactive cirque production that combines stilt walkers, contortionists, dancers and acrobatic performances. During the second week of the event, camel rides on the island's private beach, La Playa, are offered. Additionally, as a special gift for those who purchase a general admission ticket during the event, Jungle Island upgrades them to an annual passport for the park. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. every day through Jan. 1. ZOO LIGHTS
   Zoo Miami presents Zoo Lights, an eight-day series of holiday events with dozens of bright animal-shaped lights, holiday music, hot chocolate, camel and carousel rides. COMMUNITY SYMPOSIUM
   The history and archeology of Temple Judaism and of early Christianity is presented by world-renowned scholars during a two-day symposium featuring James Charlesworth of Princeton Theological Seminary; Rabbi Lawrence Schiffman of Yeshiva University; Dan Bahat of Bar-Ilan University and leading archaeologist of Jerusalem; and Motti Aviam, leading archaeologist of the Galilee. Speakers address the Dead Sea Scrolls and how the Temple and spiritual life impacted the life of early Jews. 3:30 and 5 p.m. Dec. 18. 5:30 and 7 p.m. Dec. 19.
