ART OF FILM
The Miami Beach Cinematheque kicks off Art Basel week with film installation "Ruins" by Dinorah de Jesus Rodriguez starring Anita Ponton. Projected images will appear intermittently on varying surfaces, tables and walls, to form a fragmented narrative conveying the story of a woman trapped inside the ruins of a timeless place who haunts a café with her bizarre perceptions regarding the outside world and her notions of what might be going on here. Alongside this installation, a preview of the next installment in the pulp, noir sci-fi saga "The Beach Chronicles" by Kevin Sharpley and Gianfranco Bianchi is shown. 7 p.m. "Ruins." 7:30 p.m. "The Beach Chronicles." Miami Beach Cinematheque, 1130 Washington Ave., Miami Beach. Free. Details: www.mbcinema.com.

Displaying his creativity and talent at a young age, Kevin ultimately found a home on "Sesame Street." Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, this documentary includes rare archival footage, interviews with Frank Oz, Rosie O'Donnell, Cheryl Henson, Joan Ganz Cooney and others and offers a behind-the-scenes look at "Sesame Street" and the Jim Henson Workshop. 7 p.m. Additional screenings through Dec. 4. Bill Cosford Cinema at the University of Miami, 1111 Memorial Drive, Coral Gables. UM students free. Seniors, UM alumni, faculty, non-UM students and staff $7. Others $9. Curtis begins having terrifying dreams about an encroaching, apocalyptic storm. He chooses to keep the disturbance to himself, channeling his anxiety into the building of a backyard storm shelter. But the resulting strain on his marriage and tension within the community doesn't compare to Curtis' private fear of what his dreams may truly signify. He confides in Samantha, testing the power of their bond against the highest possible stakes. 9 p.m. Additional screenings through Dec. 4. Bill Cosford Cinema at the University of Miami, 1111 Memorial Drive, Coral Gables. UM students free. Seniors, UM alumni, faculty, non-UM students and staff $7. Others $9.
