BIRDING AND WILDLIFE
   Bird enthusiasts and nature lovers visit the 13th annual Florida Keys Birding and Wildlife Festival. Featuring five days of environmental programs, field trips and educational speaker presentations. Serving as keynote speakers are husband-and-wife birding experts Ken and Kimberly Kaufman. FISHING TOURNAMENT
   The Herman Lucerne Memorial hosts a backcountry fishing championship. More than 20 awards will be given in the general, artificial and fly divisions. 4-8 p.m. 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m. kickoff Aug. 26. 7 p.m. awards dinner Aug. 28. Aug. 27-28 tournament. Early registration by July 15 $350 per adult angler, $300 per young adult angler (ages 17-25), $225 per junior angler (ages 16 and younger). After July 15, registration fees increase by $50 each. BUTTERFLY DAYS
   Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden hosts Butterfly Days at Fairchild, a weekend of events celebrating butterfly appreciation, conservation and education. Featuring lectures by Cindy David, butterfly garden designer; David Wagner, professor, University of Connecticut and Roger Hammer, interpretative naturalist and author. Take a hike around natural butterfly habitats to see some of South Florida's rarest species. 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. 9 a.m. butterfly walk and survey Sept. 24. Ends Sept. 25.
