LIGHT MATTERS
   Former New York Times photography critic Vicki Goldberg lectured on "What Remains" in conjunction with the Miami Art Museum's exhibit "Focus Gallery: Joel Meyerowitz — Aftermath." Ms. Goldberg is the author of several photography books and has contributed texts to numerous monographs. 6:30-7:30 p.m. Miami Art Museum, 101 W Flagler St., Miami. PYRAMIDS AND PHARAOHS
   The Deering Estate at Cutler presents a free lecture on the second Thursday of each month. This month, Egyptologist and artist Rene Rodriguez presents "Pyramids and the Old Kingdom," a visual presentation on pyramids and their pharaohs. Mr. Rodriguez has visited archaeological sites in Egypt and lived with people outside the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. Lecture includes a question-and-answer session and artifact presentation. 7 p.m. Deering Estate at Cutler, 16701 SW 72nd Ave., visitors center auditorium, Palmetto Bay. Free. REMEMBRANCE SCULPTURES
   Miami Dade College's North Campus hosts a 9/11 remembrance ceremony and unveils two World Trade Center steel artifacts donated by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Features keynote speaker John W. Norman, retired deputy assistant chief of the Fire Department City of New York, who served as search and rescue manager for the World Trade Center Operations. The artifacts consist of two steel beams, one placed at the campus' Fire Academy site and the other on the campus' Miami International Sculpture Park. 9 a.m. Miami Dade College North Campus, 11380 NW 27th Ave., building 4000.
