MAKE A SPLASH

   Amelia Earhart Park offers a variety of outdoor activities. Mountain bike a 5.5-mile trail with challenging slopes and runs or practice a variety of water sports at the 91-acre lake. YOGA AT THE PARK

   ZICO Pure Premium Coconut Water partners with Bayfront Park to offer coconut water to keep attendees of the park’s free yoga classes hydrated. The yoga classes are held outdoors overlooking the bay every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. 6-7:15 p.m. Monday and Wednesday. 9-10:15 p.m. Saturday. FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP

   The Herman Lucerne Memorial hosts a backcountry fishing championship. More than 20 awards will be given in the general, artificial and fly divisions. The tournament honors Herman Lucerne, one of Everglades National Park’s most respected backcountry anglers who died during Hurricane Andrew in 1992. 4-8 p.m. 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m. kickoff Aug. 26. 7 p.m. awards dinner Aug. 28. Aug. 27-28 tournament. Everglades National Park, 40001 State Road 9336, Homestead. Early registration by July 15 $350 per adult angler. $300 per young adult angler (ages 17-25.) $225 per junior angler (ages 16 and younger.) After July 15, registration fees increase by $50 each. FREE FAIRCHILD

   Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden opens its doors free every Sunday during August. Enjoy the garden’s flowering vines, shaded rainforest passages and beautiful lakes.
