AMONG MONKS
Loosely based on the true story of the Cistercian monks of Tibhirine in Algeria, "Of Gods and Men" follows the tensions that unfold among a once peaceful, coexisting group of French Christian monks and Muslims. Calm crumbles after a group of foreign workers is murdered by an Islamic fundamentalist group. 6:40 p.m. Miami Dade College Tower Theater, 1508 SW Eighth St., Miami. $5 for MDC students, seniors and Miami Film Society members. $6 others. Details: (305) 643-8706 or www.mdc.edu/culture/tower.htm.
OSTENTATIOUS LIES
On the surface, upper-class Panama City politician Fernando Gonzalez-Dubois has it all — riches included. But in reality, he has secretly diminished the family fortune of his shopping-obsessed wife, his twin daughters are spoiled rotten and his son is being raised mostly by their disillusioned maids. When the family prepares to leave for a shopping spree in Miami while seven weeks behind in paying his employees, the help revolts and takes the family hostage. See what unfolds next in "Chance," a revenge comedy in Spanish with English subtitles. 7 p.m. Miami Dade College Tower Theater, 1508 SW Eighth St., Miami. $5 for MDC students, seniors and Miami Film Society members. $6 others. Details: (305) 643-8706 or www.mdc.edu/culture/tower.htm.
STRONG MOM
Italian film "La Prima Cosa Bella" follows a strong, optimistic mother as she fights pain and grief to raise her children, teaching them to remain hopeful and delight in life's small pleasures. In Italian with English subtitles. 9:15 p.m. Miami Dade College Tower Theater, 1508 SW Eighth St., Miami. $5 for MDC students, seniors and Miami Film Society members. $6 others. Details: (305) 643-8706 or www.mdc.edu/culture/tower.htm.
UNLIKELY LEADER
In 2010 French film "Potiche," an elegant trophy wife takes over operations of her husband's umbrella factory when striking workers take him hostage. Suzanne — played by Catherine Deneuve — proves a surprisingly successful leader and finds herself reunited with an old fling played by Gérard Depardieu. Things get messy when her husband returns in this 1970s-based film. 9:15 p.m. Miami Dade College Tower Theater, 1508 SW Eighth St., Miami. $5 for MDC students, seniors and Miami Film Society members. $6 others. Details: (305) 643-8706 or www.mdc.edu/culture/tower.htm.

Miami Dade College Tower Theater, 1508 SW Eighth St., Miami. $5 for MDC students, seniors and Miami Film Society members. $6 others. Details: (305) 643-8706 or www.mdc.edu/culture/tower.htm.
