"THE SPARROW"
A tragic bus accident in a small Illinois town claimed the lives of all but one student in a second-grade class — Emily Book. "The Sparrow," a production of the award-winning House Theatre of Chicago — picks up on the tale as Emily returns to her hometown 10 years after the incident, grappling with heartbreak, superhuman abilities and how she fits into a town struggling to heal. Ends May 1. Carnival Studio Theater at the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House, Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami. $35-$50. Details: (305) 949-6722 or www.arshtcenter.org.
NUTTY NUNS
A clan of hora-dancing, bottle-balancing nuns celebrate Catholic and Jewish traditions in musical "Meshuggah-Nuns." Set on a "Faiths of All Nations" cruise, the Little Sisters of Hoboken come to the rescue after all but one actor set to perform "Fiddler on the Roof" becomes sea sick. Their zany rendition of the Jewish musical includes songs such as "Say It In Yiddish," "Contrition," "If I Were a Catholic" and disco-style "Matzo Man." Ends May 8. Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, 3385 NE 188th St., Aventura. $36. Details: (954) 462-0222 or www.aventuracenter.org.
