   Former NFL cheerleader Mireya Mayor shares her transformation from girly girl to Fulbright Scholar, field scientist and National Geographic adventurer, the subject of her book "Pink Boots and a Machete."    Lauren Book, daughter of lobbyist Ron Book, shares her deeply personal tale of the abuse she endured as a child at the hands of her nanny in "It’s Ok to Tell." HOPE IN SORROW

   Harvard-trained Palestinian Doctor Izzeldin Abuelaish drew national attention and numerous humanitarian awards for his reaction after his daughters were killed by Israeli soldiers in 2009 in the Gaza Strip. As a physician who treats patients on both sides and a humanitarian seeking improved health and education for women in the Middle East, Dr. Abuelaish hopes that his daughters will be "the last sacrifice on the road to peace between Palestinians and Israelis."
