Achy Obejas discusses Ena Lucia Portela's "One Hundred Bottles," celebrated as a "brilliant account of the Cuban crisis" in the 1990s. "Two Cents Plain" is a bittersweet memoir of growing up in Brooklyn in the '50s and '60s. Author Martin Lemelman discusses the book on his childhood as the son of Holocaust survivors who grew up in his family's Brownsville candy store in a period of decline.
