Following his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love," author Oscar Hijuelos picks up the story, this time telling it from the view of heroine Maria in "Beautiful Maria of My Soul." Maria is the Cuban beauty who captivated musician Nestor Castillo and was the inspiration for The Mambo Kings' biggest hit. Now in her 60s living with her daughter in Miami, Maria is still a beauty and has never forgotten Nestor, which she shares in the book along with her insight on the Mambo Kings' story.
