Sunday 6/13 CELEBRATE THE POINCIANATake advantage of a rare opportunity to see The Kampong historic garden, the only branch of the National Tropical Botanical Garden in the continental US, free in honor of the Royal Poinciana Fiesta. For a more extended celebration, take a narrated trolley ride through Coconut Grove, Coral Gables and South Miami, learning about the history of the fiesta and glimpsing some the area's most beautiful Poincianas. The event honors the epic converging journeys through Dublin of two men later commemorated in James Joyce's "Ulysses." On this Bloomsday, actors from Actors' Playhouse are to perform dramatic readings of excerpts from "Ulysses," followed by a short odyssey around the block led by a kilted bagpiper and a special Bloomsday menu at John Martin's Restaurant. CUBAN-JEWISH LIFE Perry Ellis CEO George Feldenkreis speaks about Jewish life in Cuba 1900-1950 in conjunction with the Jewish Museum of Florida's "Lox With Black Beans & Rice: Portraits of Cuban Jews in South Florida" exhibit. Mr. Feldenkreis came to the US from Cuba in 1959 with $700 and worked his way up to head Perry Ellis.
