TALENT REVEALED
Winner of seven Césars, France's equivalent of the Academy Awards, "Séraphine" is the true story of a simple housekeeper who at age 41 began painting brilliantly colorful canvases without any formal instruction. While working as a maid for German art critic and collector Wilhelm Uhde, one of the first collectors of Picasso, her talent is discovered and the aficionado helps shuttle her work to the most acclaimed shows in Paris and eventually New York's Museum of Modern Art. 6:30 p.m. Several showings through the end of the month. Miami Dade College Tower Theater, 1508 SW Eighth St., Miami. $6. Details: (305) 643-8706 or grojas2@mdc.edu or www.mdc.edu/culture/tower.htm.
TOGETHER AGAIN
Written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, "Tetro" centers around two reunited siblings — a 17 year old raised mostly in New York and his melancholy poet brother Tetro — grappling with the haunting experiences of their shared past. 8:50 p.m. Several showings through the end of the month. Miami Dade College Tower Theater, 1508 SW Eighth St., Miami. $6. Details: (305) 643-8706 or grojas2@mdc.edu or www.mdc.edu/culture/tower.htm.
