CHRISTMAS CRAZINESS
   A holiday musical take on the poem that inspired its title, "Another Night Before Christmas" examines the indulgence of the holiday season through the experiences of a dispirited social worker destined to celebrate another lonely Christmas in her New York apartment. HISTORY LESSONS

The M-Ensemble Company, Florida's oldest established African-American theater, opens its 38th season with Pulitzer-Prize-winning playwright August Wilson's "Gem of the Ocean." The historical play, which starts off in the home of 285-year-old spiritual advisor Aunt Esther, follows the chaos and race-fueled rioting that occurs after an incident at the local mill. One especially tormented character is Citizen Barlow, who is sent to the City of Bones by Aunt Esther aboard the mystical ship "Gem of the Ocean" in a voodoo-like séance. 8 p.m. Nov. 27-Dec. 20.
