SAVING THE CITY
   The Playground Theatre hosts a production of the Sumerian legend "Inanna and the Huluppu Tree." The 4,000-year-old story tells of celebrating the victory of the young goddess, Inanna, who restores harmony to an ancient city ravaged by endless storms and angry gods. Ends Dec. 20. PARISIAN PLAY
   Based on Ludwig Bemelmans' popular book series, "Madeline's Christmas" begins like an ordinary day for the 12 girls in the old house in Paris. Yet soon after, Madeline is the only one of the little girls in Ms. Clavel's care who hasn't come down with the flu on Christmas day. WINTER WONDERLAND
   Santa and his elves will be on hand at the North Pole Miami style at the West End Winter Wonderland event, held by the City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department. Instead of snow, bubbles will fill the park. Activities include holiday arts and crafts, bounce houses, family games like tug-of-war and relay races and pictures with Santa himself. 6-9 p.m. West End Park, 250 SW 60 Ave., Miami. $4. BEASTLY TREATS

The animals that call Miami Metrozoo home will be in for a special treat this holiday season and so will onlookers as the zoo's star residents receive their Christmas gifts. This weekend the black rhinos will received pine trees decorated with their favorite food items at 11:30 a.m. and the pygmy hippos will get red and green ice treats at 1:30 p.m., among other feedings continuing throughout the month. JUST LIKE SUMMER
   Keep the kids occupied and out of trouble during winter break at various camps organized by Miami-Dade Parks. Offerings include a general-program camp packed with fitness activities, arts & crafts and games and specialized camps like an EcoAdventures nature camp, a performing arts camp, programs for children with disabilities and a camp at Deering Estate where participants will learn about early South Florida history, archeology and nature. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Early drop-off at 7:30 a.m. and late pick-up at 6 p.m. is available. CREATIVE KIDS

JR. ROCKET SCIENCE
