| ART Thursday 10/22 FRESH PAINTThe Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation presents "Shifting Constructs," work from its 2009 grants and commissions program. The exhibit includes the work of six emerging artists as well as two mid-career artists and examines themes such as maps, identity, memory and archives through forms of videos, installations, photography and drawings. A CUBAN MASTER Miami Dade College's Art Gallery System exhibits work of famed Cuban artist Cundo Bermúdez. Born in Havana in 1914, he led the tide of modern Cuban art in the 1940s and 1950s inspired by the people, landscape, music and political climate around him. Ends Nov. 7. RELIGIOUS IDENTITY The Jewish Museum of Florida exhibits Judy Chicago's "Jewish Identity." AFRICAN INFLUENCE "Black Crossroads: The African Diaspora in Miami" explores the impact of African-Americans, Africans, black Caribs and black Hispanics on Miami through historic photographs, oral histories, memorabilia, film and artifacts related to black pioneers, families, laborers, communities and organizations spanning the 100-year history of black migration to Miami. TURNING POINTS The Museum of Contemporary Art exhibits "Pivot Points III," selected from its permanent collection. INTO THE UNKNOWN Charest-Weinberg Gallery exhibits "Into The Void: The Ballad of The Martyr as told by Ingres" by artists Rob Davis and Mike Langlois. The exhibit is inspired by a fable that follows a young Palestinian-American contemplating the plight of an elder forced to relinquish his land. Ends Nov. 21. FINDING PEACE Florida International University's Frost Art Museum shows "The Missing Peace." The exhibition, the result of collaboration between the Committee of 100 for Tibet and the Dalai Lama Foundation, focuses on art as a medium for promoting peace. The exhibit, in the museum and the Freedom Tower, features more than 50 canvases and 25 works on paper. In his work, he explores the intersection of public and private spaces. Ends Jan. 17. WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE Carol Jazzar Contemporary Art exhibits "Into the Wild," featuring the work of eight artists from around the country.
