A TASTE OF AMERICANA
The University of Miami’s Jerry Herman Ring Theater presents "Smokey Joe’s Café: The Music of Leiber and Stoller." The play, which was a hit on Broadway, follows the work of songwriters and producers Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller who are partially credited with popularizing rock "n’ roll. Ends Sept. 19. Florida International University Theatre kicks off its 2009-2010 season with a performance of "Sonia Flew." The story follows a Cuban woman who harbors a lifelong resentment of her parents but begins to understand their actions when her son signs up for the Marines after the Sept. 11 tragedy. Ends Oct. 4. A CUBAN CLASSIC
