A BIT OF BRAZIL
The 13th annual Brazilian Film Festival will bring more than 40 films to South Florida over five days. The opening night will feature "My Name Ain't Johnny" in which a middle-class man living a bohemian lifestyle rises to the top of the drug trade in Rio de Janeiro in the 1990s. The evening will also feature the short film "Seven Lives." The 19-minute film follows seven strangers who all believe they own the same cat. 7 p.m. Colony Theatre, 1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach. STRAIGHT FROM CANNES
The Miami Beach Cinematheque hosts a screening of the award-winning film "Distant." The movie follows a photographer who believes the gap between his ideals and his life are growing.
