Dennis C. Moss aims at county agenda on vital issues, using committee system and advisory board in role as commission chairman

After 15 years on the Miami-Dade County Commission, District 9 Commissioner Dennis Moss has taken his seat as chairman. During his two-year term, he aims to use the committee system not only as means of pushing agenda items ahead to the full board but to work toward targeted goals and monitor critical countywide issues.
He plans also to take advantage of what he called sometimes underutilized advisory boards in making commission decisions.
Mr. Moss sees the housing crisis as the community's greatest challenge and hopes to iron out a system of quickly paying contractors to allow money to flow quickly to subcontractors and trickle into the economy. A package of ready-to-go economic stimulus projects is also in the works.
In his own South Dade district, Mr. Moss is working to create a desirable tourism destination complete with hotels, attractions and events. He discussed his vision in his district office with Miami Today staff writer Risa Polansky.
