David S. Evensky and family firm find the rational in an equities market marked by bubbles and irrational behavior

For 24 years, Evensky & Katz has served as wealth manager and financial planner to clients worldwide — from right here in Miami-Dade County. The Coral Gables firm is known nationally for its academia-based recommendations and solid reputation.
Principal David Evensky, son of founder Harold Evensky, guides business development and helps new clients navigate what has lately been a volatile market. His advice: don't panic, and don't deviate from your financial plan. "Stick to what your current investment philosophy is going to be, and do not try to market time. Market timing does not work," he says.
When he's not planning for the firm and guiding clients, Mr. Evensky is out serving the community. The firm spearheads Motivated Youth, an initiative meant to teach local high schoolers the value of philanthropy and the value of a dollar. He was interviewed in his Coral Gables office by Miami Today staff writer Risa Polansky.
