Robert W. "Bob" Brockway living life, doing business full-speed ahead

It's full-speed ahead for what's long been known as Bill Ussery Motors. The Coral Gables Mercedes-Benz dealership — one of the first seven in the US and the top-selling Mercedes-Benz dealership in the state — is to soon be joined by another in Cutler Bay. Owner and Chairman Robert "Bob" Brockway, grandson of Bill Ussery, recently snagged South Florida's only smart car dealership and opened the Silver Arrow Collision Center.
Involved in the family business since 1986, Mr. Brockway is steering the company around economic potholes and focusing on the positives. Though the dealership is selling fewer expensive cars this year, it's selling the same healthy number of cars, he says. smart car has really taken off — the dealer has orders to fill for the next two years.
And, as always, Mr. Brockway says, Miami is "a terrific car town." He was interviewed in his Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables office by Miami Today staff writer Risa Polansky.
