Wilbert 'Tee' Holloway applying his varied legislative talents to setting policies and priorities for educating our children

Former member of the Florida House of Representatives. Communications company executive. Past chairman of the Miami-Dade County Coalition of Chambers of Commerce. And now Miami-Dade County school board member. Overtown native Wilbert "Tee" Holloway is truly a jack of all trades. "All of life is about continuing being a freshman," he says.
Mr. Holloway may be a novice on the school board — he was sworn in in December — but he's no stranger to some of the duties involved in the position, including balancing a budget in the face of severe cuts. He had a hand in similar processes in his seven years in the Florida Legislature.
Mr. Holloway says he doesn't envy his former colleagues in the House, who have had to deal with a state budget crisis, but knows his priorities in dealing with the school board's own: students, safety and security. Mr. Holloway, a manager of corporate and external affairs for AT&T, hopes also to work with the business community to bolster education here. He was interviewed in his downtown school board office by Miami Today staff writer Risa Polansky.
