Summer film benefit
   Miami International Film Festival and Miami Dade College present the second Summer Fun Film Series. The first film screening of "Stardust," starring Michelle Pfeiffer, begins today (8/2) at 7:30 p.m. "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," starring Matthew Broderick and Ben Stein, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Friday. And all "Harry Potter" films will be screened on Saturday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. All films will be shown at Tower Theater, 1508 SW Eighth St., Miami. Limited seating. Free admission with a donation of school supplies for Kiwanis Club of Little Havana and Kids Hope United Coconut Grove Cares: The Barnyard Community Center.

Celebrating Herzog
   This month, Miami Beach Cinematheque celebrates the work of director and writer Werner Herzog with a monthlong screening of his films. The celebration begins with the showing of 1972 German film "Aguirre, The Wrath of God." The film stars Klaus Kinski, who plays the 16th century historical figure Lope de Aquirre in his brutal attempts to find El Dorado during the Spanish expedition. Sills tribute
   Florida Grand Opera hosts a discussion on the life and career of the late opera singer Beverly Sills. Ms. Sills died last month of lung cancer at 78.
