Silvio Cardoso has built strong ties in the community with the help of his partner and success of United Homes

Silvio Cardoso started out by listening to local builders and learning as he went along as a young man building two homes in Hialeah and over the years has become joint owner with Anthony Mijares Jr. of United Homes, one of the largest Hispanic-owned companies in South Florida.
The company, having built more than 5,000 single-family, townhome, condominium and multifamily affordable-housing units, has been named Builder of the Year by the Builders Association of South Florida, won awards from the Latin Builders Association and Florida's BEST Awards in several categories. But it's service to the community in which Mr. Cardoso takes most pride.
He was interviewed at his Miami Lakes headquarters by Miami Today international editor Michael Hayes.
