Director Ilana Vardy doesn't shy from trying new things as Art Miami continues to become high-impact festival

As arts and culture in the area take on an increasingly international tone, officials of an exposition of modern and contemporary art are preparing to stage its 17th annual event in Miami Beach under the leadership of a person focused on taking it in new and even more exciting directions.
The fair is Art Miami, scheduled for Jan. 5-8 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, and its director is Ilana Vardy, who took on the role six years ago after spending eight years heading the team that built Art Chicago into one of the most respected art expositions in the world.
Ms. Vardy talked about how the Miami fair has evolved and what the future has in store for it in an interview with Miami Today international editor Michael Hayes.
