CEO Bob Dickinson has led Carnival to top of industry that only recently has found its way into the mainstream

From small beginnings more than 30 years ago, Carnival Cruise Lines has become the industry's leader, along the way turning cruising on the high seas as a privilege for the wealthy into an exciting and fun form of vacationing for everyone.
Carnival is now the world's No. 1 cruise operator with 12 lines operating 21 ships carrying more passengers and earning bigger revenues than any other operator.
Steering the growth as president and CEO is Bob Dickinson, who before joining the fledgling company served on the financial staff of Ford Motor Co. and in the corporate planning office of RCA.
Named Travel Executive of the Year in 1999 by Travel Trade magazine and recipient of numerous other travel and hospitality industry awards, Mr. Dickinson, 63, is a wine enthusiast and the co-author of two widely quoted books on industry themes.
He was interviewed by Miami Today international editor Michael Hayes.
