Richard Berkowitz fosters the growth of his profession as president of century-old statewide CPA association

   The founder of what has become a leading South Florida firm of certified pubic accountants and consultants is playing a key role in arousing interest in and respect for his profession throughout Florida.
   He is Richard Berkowitz, managing director of Berkowitz Dick Pollack & Brant, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, the firm he founded in 1980 that has offices in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, employs 175 specialists and is forecast to do $37 million in business this year.
   On July 1, Mr. Berkowitz, who turned 55 this month, began a one-year term as president of the 18,000-member Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a 100-year-old institution that under his leadership is taking on a new and vibrant face.
   He was interviewed by Miami Today international editor Michael Hayes.
