‘MADAGASCAR’

   "There’s no such thing as coincidence. Dig deeper. That’s how you unravel a mystery," say the characters in "Madagascar." New Theatre begins its fall season with the new play by J.T. ‘TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE’

   The Coconut Grove Playhouse opens its 50th-anniversary season with "Tuesdays with Morrie," based on the New York Times bestseller about the relationship between journalist Mitch Albom and his dying college professor, Morrie Schwartz. 2 and 8 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays through Oct. 9 at the Playhouse, 3500 Main Highway, Coconut Grove. $35-$60. ‘PHANTOM OF THE OPERA’

SHOWTUNES REVUE

   The University of Miami’s department of theater arts kicks off its season with a musical tribute to the Broadway composer and UM Ring Theatre namesake Jerry Herman.
