Sergio Masvidal heads global wealth management work as American Express Bankís Miami-based vice chairman

   On July 14, Sergio Masvidal was appointed vice chairman of New York-based American Express Bank Ltd., American Express Companyís international banking subsidiary. He will continue in his role as chairman and president of American Express Bank International, AEBís private bank. With the appointment, the Cuba native took on responsibility for all of AEBís wealth-management activities around the world, operating out of his office in Miami, where he has been a longtime resident.
   Mr. Masvidal, a member of a prominent Cuban family who left his homeland at age 12 in 1961 in the Pedro Pan program, had a distinguished career in international banking before joining American Express Bank in 1987.
   He spoke of his experiences, his current role and his outlook in an interview with Miami Today international editor Michael Hayes.
