Miami-Dade Realtors open Broward office

Claudio Mendonça
The Realtor Association of Miami-Dade County is crossing the line into Broward County and opening an office in Plantation.
Martha Bullman, president of the association, said the decision to expand north was based on a huge customer base in western Broward. About 1,000 of the group's 10,000 members live and work in Broward, she said.
The group's new branch is set to open by June 15. It will be in 3,000 square feet at The Fountains Shoppes, a 410,000-square-foot open-air mall on University Drive near Interstate 595.
"During all these years, in order for a Realtor to receive services from our association, someone had to drive from Broward all the way to Coral Gables," said Patrick O'Connell, a director with the Miami association and a resident of Hollywood. "Our new home enables the association to work more effectively for our Broward members."
Ms. Bullman said Brooke Mahler will be the onsite manager and will lead a staff of eight. Ms. Mahler will oversee customer service and operations as well as troubleshoot broker difficulties and requests.
Founded in 1933, the association also lobbies to protect private property rights.
"We go to Tallahassee annually, Ms. Bullman said, "to make sure private property rights are taken into consideration against special taxes such as taxes on services, on units and impact taxes that affect ownership."
