ISRAEL FILM FESTIVAL
The Israel film festival will feature 28 new feature films, documentaries and TV dramas. The festival will open with "Turn Left at the End of the World." Every night will feature a different film. Opening night will feature a gala and awards ceremony with Israeli filmmakers, stars, dignitaries and a special appearance by Liraz Charhi, a star of the film. The Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archive presents a video rewind retrospective of rare news kinescopes from Miami’s WCKT-TV, Channel 7. Featured first will be "The President is Dead," aired on Nov. 22, 1963, in which Wayne Fariss leads a presentation chronicling the life and career of President John F. Kennedy. The next feature, "Peabody Awards Show," is a highlight reel containing excerpts from some of the most compelling documentaries produced by the station, with particular attention paid to local immigration issues in Latin America. 1-3 p.m. at the Miami-Dade Public Library Auditorium, 101 W.
