ART Thursday 4/1 HOMESTEAD DIVERSITY EXHIBITMiami Dade College Homestead Campus Art Gallery and Artsouth, a non-profit artist community, present an exhibition in celebration of the third anniversary of Artsouth. THE BATHER An exhibition of Francois-Marie Banier's collection of photographs and sketches ranging from images of everyday people to celebrity portraits. PRINTMAKING EXHIBITION Display of print works created by artists at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, CO. A turn-of-the-century sheep ranch, Anderson Ranch was transformed into an artists' community about 35 years ago. Details: (305) 284-2542. Friday 4/2 HEALING EXHIBITBooks and Books presents art exhibit Healing From Sexual Violence in recognition of Sexual Violence Awareness Day. Featured art includes work by artists from the Broward Women's Correctional Institute. Saturday 4/10 LIGHT WORKS EXHIBITDisplay of Hannah Mae's work comprised of perforated metal sheets with translucent color applications. ART MUSEUMS Thursday 4/1 BLACK AESTHETICSChicago-based Kerry James Marshall is best known for paintings that recall the grandeur of traditional history painting. Using a figurative style and imagery of African Americans in urban and suburban settings, he addresses social issues stemming from the Civil Rights movement. GLOBE DRAWINGS Exhibition of the work of Russell Crotty, an amateur astronomer known for ballpoint pen drawings of the night sky. The Miami Art Museum is commissioning the artist to create a new globe of the night skies over the Everglades as a tribute to one of Florida's unique natural resources. Through June 27. 101 W. MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART Organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the first major display of Laura Owens, a Los Angeles artist. The exhibition showcases about 40 paintings and works on paper that trace Ms. Owens' development from 1997.
