LECTURE
   Miami Dade College presents "Giving Voice to Women: Six Contemporary Women Writers Residency and Lecture Series." Held biweekly 6-9 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 29-April 8 at MDC's Wolfson Campus, 300 NE Second Ave., Room 2106, Miami. Geared towards bibliophiles and aspiring writers, the event will showcase authors representing diverse ethnic and national backgrounds; as well as a variety of writing styles featuring award-winning authors Francine Prose, Nalo Hopkinson, Margot Livesey, Sonia Sanchez, Gail Tsukiyama, and Sandra Benitez. Deadline to register is Jan. 16. Free. Also, "Fiction and Non-Fiction Writing," community education course taught by MDC instructor Lissette Mendez and visited by the six authors, will be offered at the Wolfson campus 6-9 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 22-April 15. $100.
