MIAMI CHILDREN’S MUSEUM

FAIRCHILD TROPICAL GARDEN

Fairchild Tropical Garden inaugurates Luminous Gardens Exhibition, a site-specific installation of 100,000 marker flags in the Lowlands, recent works on canvas and paper by Venezuelan artist Patricia Van Dalen. 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily (closed Christmas Day) at 10901 Old Cutler Road, Coral Gables. THE ART MUSEUM AT FIU

"Vision Revealed," selections from the work of Cuban-American photographer Abelardo Morell, opens Jan. 16 and runs through March 14. Mr. Morell’s best-known work is the Camera Obscura series, in which he turns a room into a dark chamber, capturing through long exposures the images that appear projected upside down from the outside. HISTORICAL MUSEUM OF SOUTHERN FLORIDA

"Assignment Miami: News Photographers," exhibition exploring the history of newspaper photography in Greater Miami. More than 300 photographs include many of the most dramatic events in Miami’s history such as the 1926 hurricane, the attempted assassination of Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933, the riots and the Mariel boatlift and the Eli·n Gonz·lez controversy. Through Jan. 25. 101 W. JEWISH MUSEUM OF FLORIDA

"From Persia to Miami: A Journey for Survival," through April 11. "Red Grooms: Selections from the Graphic Work," organized by the Tennessee State Museum from the collection of Walter G. MIAMI ART MUSEUM

Miami Art Museum presents first exhibition in the US of collaborative works by Janine Antoni and Paul Ramirez Jonas. Both artists are internationally recognized and known for their distinct bodies of work. The married couple, who have family ties to South Florida, have been creating art together since 1999. MIAMI MUSEUM OF SCIENCE

"Space Adventures: From Hubble to Hollywood," Miami Museum of Science’s fall exhibition, will be on display through Jan. 4 featuring two traveling exhibits, "Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe" and "Space Toys." 3280 S. MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART

Peruvian-born Miami artist William Cordova fuses urban culture with ancient Andean spirituality. His work is inspired by the history and memories of Machu Picchu, Overtown, Little Haiti, and Opa-locka. "No More Lonely Nights" previews 7-10 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 770 NE 125th St., North Miami. Runs through Feb. 8.Also at MoCA, an exhibition of Richard Artschwager’s and Inka Essenhigh’s paintings through Feb. 15. THE WOLFSONIAN FIU
