CELLIST

Cellist Matt Haimovitz performs at 10:30 p.m. at Churchill’s, 5501 NE Second Ave., Miami. CONCERT

The Greater Miami Symphonic Band celebrates its silver-anniversary season with the appearance of Alfred Reed, who conducts his "Russian Christmas Music," and Ney Rosauro, professor of percussion at the University of Miami, who performs his "Concerto for Marimba and Concert Band." 8 p.m. at Gusman Concert Hall, 1314 Miller Drive, Coral Gables. CONCERT FOR HOLIDAY SEASON

The Music, Theater, and Dance Department at Miami Dade College’s Kendall Campus present a holiday concert featuring the College Choir and Community Chorus. Accompanied by an orchestra, the Community Chorus and College Choir will perform Dietrich Buxtehude’s "Magnificat." Program also includes an audience sing-a-long of holiday carols, including songs for Hanukah and in Spanish. 4 p.m. at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 1142 Coral Way, Coral Gables. $10 adults, $5 children. STING

Musician Sting kicks off his "Sacred Love" tour at 7:30 p.m. at James L. Knight Center, 400 SE Second Ave., Miami. Sting has sold nearly 95 million albums and been awarded 15 Grammy Awards.
