Is raising Miami-Dade’s living wage to $16.35 too high?

A routine increase in Miami-Dade County’s living wage is being met with hesitation by some commissioners who think the county is increasing the living wage too much.
The county established the Living Wage Ordinance in 1999 at $8.56 per hour with health benefits or $9.81 per hour without health benefits. The county is to adjust the rate annually using the Consumer Price Index calculated by the US Department of Commerce.
