New Jackson South name on way

If county commissioners approve next week, Jackson South Community Hospital, 9333 SW 152nd St., will be renamed Jackson South Medical Center, but it is a change in name only. All functions of the facility, the former Deering Hospital, will remain the same, said Lidia Amoretti, spokesperson for Jackson Health System.
“The Public Health Trust [which governs Jackson Health System] approved changing the name of Jackson South Community Hospital to Jackson South Medical Center during its February meeting,” Ms. Amoretti said Tuesday. “The name change is scheduled to go before the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners for final approval on April 18…To read the full story click here
