Cristina Mas: ‘Community Builder’ honoree relishes digital change

When the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce honored Cristina Mas by naming her Community Builder during the annual George E. Merrick community awards dinner at the University of Miami in June, she was recognized for helping others.

Ms. Mas says the spirit of giving has shaped her life by bringing her in contact with people of all ages and helping her feel good about herself.

Miami Today met with Ms. Mas several weeks ago, before Pointe Group Advisors was sold to Colliers International South Florida. She had been working for a little over a year at the Pointe commercial real estate group, helping rebrand and jumpstart its social media. Now, she will be taking her skills to Colliers.

It’s important to stay current in the digital age, Ms. Mas said, where we now receive information quickly. 

In marketing and social media, she said, if you’re not first you’re last. It’s her motto, especially for an industry like commercial real estate, where Ms. Mas said businesses come and go so one must stay at the forefront.

But reaching out can’t be through digital strategies alone, she said. Ms. Mas believes one cannot negate the traditional marketing aspect, which is peer-to-peer. That’s especially important in commercial real estate, she said, which is very much about relationship building.
