British Consul General David Prodger sees a number of similarities between the UK’s economy and that of Miami and Florida. A large part of his job is about making those synergies work and making sure the solid, long-lasting bond between the UK and the US and Florida becomes even stronger and more productive.
A number of Florida companies do work in the UK, and Mr. Prodger is looking to explore working with Miami and South Florida in healthcare, smart cities, IT, technology, advance materials, and space and aerospace.
He said one really important aspect of the relationship that affects everyday lives is UK and US cooperation in law enforcement, with a very close cooperation through the consulate with Miami and Florida’s law enforcement agencies.
Mr. Prodger and his family miss some things in the UK, but not the weather.
The Brits love sports, and he’s no exception. Mr. Prodger is closely following David Beckham’s efforts to bring a professional “football” team to Miami and hope he succeeds.
Miami Today reporter Susan Danseyar interviewed Mr. Prodger at the British Consulate in Brickell.
