Profile: Maxeme Tuchman

Maxeme Tuchman, executive director of Teach For America (TFA) Miami-Dade, was a corps member in the second class of TFA teachers in the area. And she’s a Miami girl at heart, born and raised in Miami-Dade County. But Ms. Tuchman’s drive to achieve a high standard of education across all public school classrooms didn’t start when she assumed her role a couple years ago. As a middle schooler in Dade schools she became aware of the difference from classroom to classroom and school to school.
Part of her work today, and the work of the 300 corps members TFA recruits and trains to be hired in schools across the county, is to end education inequality – from classroom to classroom and school to school.
Miami Today Reporter Nina Lincoff interviewed Ms. Tuchman in her midtown office.
