Everybody already knows that you can’t just “Free the Whales,” nobody is suggesting that. We would, however, like to see a responsible transition from Lolita’s illegally sized fish bowl, to a Sea Pen that has already been earmarked for her in Washington State. I personally would also like to see the responsible transition paid for by Palace Entertainment.

She was captured so violently with the use of explosives and aircraft and torn from her mother’s side. She has served so many years in that tiny tank with the hot Miami sun beading down on her. There is a detailed retirement plan to the cool waters of her Pacific Northwest home where she would be cared for in a natural sea water pen. Her family still passes by that exact cove and maybe she could even communicate with the family she was so cruelly taken from.

That kind of publicity would suck up media attention and paint the company as enlightened. In its place of performing orcas, may I suggest they stage shows of performing humans, i.e., in the vein of yesteryear when there were clowns and stunt divers leaping off of diving boards for our amusement. Maybe add a stunt show involving JetSkis and other forms of personal watercraft. How about putting on a show with that new fandangled water jet propulsion system that makes the tethered wearer soar high above the water? I’m sure any of those things would sell tickets. Let Lolita go.

Orcas are extremely social animals. I pray she one day will be free of this prison.
