Comments on: Economy a fleeting shield in the attack of the mega-casinos The Newspaper for the Future of Miami Wed, 27 May 2015 03:38:10 +0000 hourly 1 By: KOOLTOZE Thu, 17 Apr 2014 14:08:10 +0000 So, who is Michael Lewis a shill for? Disney? The race track casinos? The Semenholes? He sounds exactly like the “consultants” and lobbyists from those “special interest” groups who can’t stomach the thought of the competition REAL casinos would bring to the table. Mr. Lewis notes: “As for defense, Andy Gardiner, a gambling opponent from the Disney stronghold of Orlando, is to take over as Senate president after the November election. That puts him in the best strategic place to fight the casinos.” They both appear to be “conservatives” whose policy is to ignore the voter’s wishes and support those “special interests” who contribute the most to their arrogant, incompetent, regressive Redumplican’t politicians. They demonstrate their repulsive qualities by fighting tooth and nail to keep the voters from having a voice. I support licensing several casinos in Florida, as do millions of other Florida voters. Mr. Lewis may belittle the people who would accept a low wage job and “wear a uniform” to have the chance to get out of poverty, something I doubt he’s ever experienced. I would support and encourage them.
