Comments on: Cuban museum at American Airlines Arena? http://www.miamitodaynews.com/2013/10/09/cuban-museum-american-airlines-arena/ The Newspaper for the Future of Miami Wed, 15 Oct 2014 15:57:36 +0000 hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=4.0 By: DC Copeland http://www.miamitodaynews.com/2013/10/09/cuban-museum-american-airlines-arena/#comment-619 Mon, 09 Dec 2013 14:56:31 +0000 http://www.miamitodaynews.com/?p=18395#comment-619 “Cubans have done a lot to improve the city and their history.” So have Americans. Remember them? They use to be a bunch of immigrants from Europe and elsewhere who shed their ties to the “homeland” and were proud to become citizens of the U.S. If you begin adding museums for every ethnicity, where will it stop? Bahamians deserve one for clearing mangroves to make Miami Beach what it is today. They were one of the first settlers in Coconut Grove and helped make it what it is today too. Of course, they were all working for white English speaking people at the time. Maybe Miami needs a WASP museum too. Building a Cuban Museum is like opening a Pandora’s Box and a quick way to making us the brunt of stand-up comics and sit-down bloggers the world over.

The heritage tourism that would this would help grow is incredible to our economy as well.

Cubans have done a lot to improve the city and their history is important to preserve. No better place than Miami. Let’s do it!

Empty, taxpayer-subsidized ethnic exhibition hall, located on an incredibly valuable land. Must be a top contender for the “most ridiculous idea of the year” title.
Just lease that land to Bayside Marketplace for retail expansion, or tender it to someone new. No brainer.

If you want a museum go to calle 8 or your freedom tower! No wonder they are disliked by every other latinametican nationalities.
